Desiccator Types And Accessories

Desiccators provide a dry, dust-free environment that medical-grade equipment and electronics can be stored in. If your storage needs have increased and you have been relying upon silica gel products and a hygrometer to control humidity levels within your office, upgrading to plastic or glass-covered desiccators will protect sensitive materials without needing to constantly monitor items or replenish desiccant materials.

Single Units And Products That Contain Multiple Shelves

Lab equipment that is designed to house materials that are sensitive to humid conditions includes a line of box-like storage containers that may or may not include shelving. Clear covers will allow an end user to keep up with what is being stored inside of the equipment. For full access to materials that are going to be used in different applications, a product that contains separate shelves and multiple drawers or slide-out trays will be sufficient.

Desiccator Types

A standard desiccator may utilize a cartridge, which will remove moisture from within the confines of a container. This type of product will require occasional monitoring and infrequent cartridge changes. An automatic desiccator will contain an electric fan and a heater. These two parts will regenerate a desiccant as necessary. This type of equipment will require a minimal amount of monitoring.

A vacuum-operated desiccator will contain a built-in pump that will remove air and moisture from within a desiccator. A gas purge system will use argon and nitrogen to provide a dry environment. An independent gas source will be necessary to operate this type of equipment.

Custom Features

A desiccator that contains a glass cover may be more expensive than one with a plastic cover. Both styles are typically used in lab environments, hospitals, or other places that require sterile conditions. A built-in hygrometer, stackability, and unique shapes are some custom features that may be beneficial.

A digital reading that is supplied by a hygrometer that is secured to the side of a desiccator will allow an end user to monitor how efficiently a storage unit is operating. Stackable units are suitable for use in an environment that provides plenty of storage space.

This type of equipment will allow a consumer to control how many items will be stored within their office and equipment can be classified, prior to being placed within one of the units. A custom shape is suitable for an environment that lacks much space and that will require a desiccator to be placed within a confined area.
